I'm a sucker for anything with lots of compartments, but I was actually looking for something to put my makeup in when I found this organizer at Target. It makes sense that it would exist, but I'd never seen them before. It takes up a little space, but I figure it's probably better to store makeup in the dark, dry linen closet anyway.

IKEA

These are my new cabinets from IKEA, Herman (left) and Alex. They are perfect for storing paper and art supplies and I'm feeling quite organized after staying up til 3 on Saturday. Well, organized in that room at least. Alex seems to be quite popular lately and I've seen him make appearances on decor8 and Treefall Design.

Yard Sales :: Week 2

We had so much fun last week, that we went to more garage sales this morning! This time we did it right and got up early. Many of the ads warn against Early Birds, and one home-owner even said she had people show up at 6:30 am, but she made them wait until they opened at 8. I hope I'm never that crazy. We definitely cannot do this every week because I will end up with too much stuff. Today's finds include a pie cooling cabinet that is perfect for the entry way, a white chair, a beautiful old copy of A Girl of the Limberlost from 1909, 2 wooden boxes for craft supplies (the big one is handmade), spice jars with cork lids, enamel bowl, metal bucket, a little watering can, and 2 more bottles. Whew!

House Projects

This past weekend we spent a lot of time working outsite. One of the projects was to replace the ugly plastic lights with these new solar ones. I love copper and we have a copper number "8" and hurricane lamp next to the door (I guess they didn't make it in the picture). Another fun project was to organize all the summer deck gear in the mudroom.

Martha, Martha, Martha!

Martha Stewart: Crafts has exploded at my Michaels store and possibly yours too! I was wondering what those empty aisles were for. It's really an impossibly fabulous collection of paper, stamps, labels, stickers, embellishments, punches, albums, shadow boxes, organizers, pens, general craft tools, wedding favor supplies, and kids crafts. There are things I was eyeing, like the bone folder, that just look so much cooler in the packaging they've got going on.

I've always wanted a ribbon box, and now I have one!

Spring Cleaning

I'm in the process of cleaning and organizing the office at home. I have *a lot* of office and art supplies, so new bins, boxes, and baskets are a good motivator to clean up. I found these really cheap silverware baskets at the drugstore and put some paper in the bottom to keep anything from falling out.
